Massage Therapy Services

Massage therapy supports tissue health, joint function, and long-term movement efficiency.

Amber McCawley serves as the Napa Tenacious Fitness director of massage therapy operations.  She is a California-certified massage therapist and brings over 25 years of clinical bodywork experience. Her work is grounded in therapeutic sports massage and orthopedic techniques designed to improve the body’s function.

The Hendrickson Method®

Hendrickson Method® is an advanced, gentle system of orthopedic manual therapy designed to treat both acute and chronic pain by simultaneously addressing soft tissues, joints, and the nervous system. It combines wave-like strokes (Wave Mobilization®), joint mobilization, and muscle energy techniques (METs) to restore function and reduce pain. The therapy is performed fully clothed without oil.

Key Components and Benefits:

Common Applications: Highly effective for treating neck/back pain, rotator cuff injuries, and hip degeneration.

Wave Mobilization®: A unique, rhythmic stroke developed by Dr. Tom Hendrickson that mimics ocean waves to deeply relax tissue, dissolve adhesions, and decrease pain.

Joint Mobilization: Gentle, rhythmic movements to increase range of motion, lubricate joints, and reduce swelling.

Muscle Energy Technique (MET): A restorative technique where the client provides gentle resistance to the therapist, helping to release chronic tension and reprogram the nervous system.

Key Benefits: Provides long-term, lasting results rather than just temporary relief.

Therapeutic Sports Massage

Therapeutic sports massage addresses muscular imbalance, restricted movement patterns, and chronic tension that interfere with strength, posture, and daily productivity and functionality.

Who This Is For

Massage therapy is most effective when integrated into a long-term health strategy. Pairing massage therapy with consistent strength and conditioning practice leads to a stronger, more resilient body that can stave off pain and support a happy, healthy, and strong life.

Massage therapy may be appropriate for individuals who:

  • Are recovering from a musculoskeletal injury
  • Experience chronic tension or recurring joint discomfort
  • Are transitioning from physician or physical therapist-directed care and want to maintain progress
  • Have limitations to daily functional movements and productivity caused by connective tissue and muscular pain, imbalance, or weakness
  • Want to support recovery from physical stress or long-term postural strain
